The hutch news editors decided to support my cause about the mediocrity of the majority of their writing.
This editorial here is typical of the crap that I was referring to in this post.
My biggest bitch is all the bitching. College sports do tons and tons and tons of good. But it's not mentioned at all in this editorial. Really it's the problem with journalism in general, the Hutch News just seems to have mastered it. Why point out nothing but the bad. Why couldn't the slant of an article EVER be man College Athletics does a ton of good, provides lot's of kids a chance at an education they might not have been able to afford, but, maybe they ought to find a way to work on graduation rates at some schools.
Instead the articles is... we gotta revamp the system and Western Kentucky should be the winner.
The system is not perfect, far from, and it never will be perfect. But it does alot of good. Produces alot of money for schools, give kids an opportunity to get an education that may or may not have had that chance with out a athletics scholarship.
Then he goes on to talk about not allowing kids to go pro without finishing four years of college. He thinks this shouldn't be allowed.
Ever hear of a guy named Bill Gates??? Started a little software company?? He went pro before he graduated college. Don't make stupid rules based on your emotions. Common Sense should always prevail even for journalists.
