A big lawn is a bad idea.

All my life I have wanted to live in the country with a few acres. For the past 10 years we have lived in the country. We have just over 4 acres of ground and I just spent the last 5 hours trying to get it mowed and the limbs picked up and I think I want to move into town and get an apartment.
It is a great way to make the kids understand the concept of chores and the fact that you can't just play all the time. I really do hate mowing though.

  1. The idea of living in the country appeals to me, but the work associated with country living does not. I did mow and pull weeds this weekend for the first time this year. I have a tiny yard (but nice by D.C. standards) and mow using one of those old timey mowers with no motor. It all took less then an hour, and even so, I complained the entire time.

  2. Dave,

This truly is one of the things I bitch about but Love.

Ok, clarification, I hate mowing. But I love living in the country enough that I am not gonna change anything. Actually my kids are just about big enough to do all of it and I hope to pay someone after they move out, so my world is close to being perfect.
