A neat deal that will be fun as well! We need more stuff like this, don't we?

Welcome Troops Home this Friday!!!

We all know the speech.... This has nothing to do with your feelings about War in Iraq or George Bush... These Guys have been over there busting their butts in crappier conditions than any of us have, so let's show up and thank them. Let's make a gigantic deal that they will never forget for the rest of their lives... DETAILS HERE>

Second thing is this... This Sat. night whatsuphutch.com and Young Professionals of Reno County are Sponsoring an event at the Cosmosphere. It's a indoor freaking tailgate party for the HCC football team!! It's gonna be a cool deal and we need everyone's help in proving that Hutch is hungry for cool events like this on a Sat. Night. So.. Click here for details, go to the Cosmosphere and get your tickets and let's all have a blast Sat. Night.

I would also love to have the comments to this post be additional ideas for events that we can make happen in Hutch to continue improving the social aspect of our fair city. Any ideas?? I put it here instead of whatsuphutch because I want the discussion to be free, I want to really know what you guys think Hutch needs from a social life stand point. Come on you can do it. Be reasonable, but cut loose!?

  1. I didn't know we were being censored at WUH. Perhaps I should start using my alias there...

As for activities - I think we are headed in the right direction with recent events such as the tailgate party. I'm not much into sports - I think I may have mentioned that before - but this kind of event will surely attract more people to stay for the game. I like that it is kid friendly as well.

The last several weeks have been quite busy ones in this fair city (no pun intended). With the chili festival, rod show and the tombstone stories and other stuff this week there has been no reason to seek entertainment elsewhere.

Honestly, I'd like to thank WUH for making me feel more connected. Your efforts to get the word out has made a difference and it's a fun way to communicate it. There are tons of events going on in this community that just don't have the means to advertise in every media form. Using Facebook or WUH or other outlets is a great way to get it done with no cost - despite recent resistance. You have to reach the people in the way they will respond. If you want a younger crowd, the print edition of the newspaper is probably not going to generate that kind of traffic.

OK. I'm ranting off subject but truly I am feeling more connected and involved in the activities going on in town over the last 6 months than ever before. Our little town has an abundance of offerings so get out and attend!

  2. I noticed in WUH.com that Warren Hardy wants a "tailgate party" for HCC basketball...see your followers are making suggestions from afar. I thought that was so cool. Now I remember Warren - I'm getting old and can't remember a lot but thought it was cool that he was following the site and had a suggestion so I think you should listen and after this successful "tailgate party" - do it again for basketball and Warren should be there!!!

  3. Tailgate for the basketball team is a great idea!!

I'm going a little on the crazy side, but how about a Santa Monica vibe! Shut down some of main street, or even the side roads and allow street performers to perform, and street vendors to sell their food. 1 band can have the "main stage" to perform. (Ave A park!?!?!) Fun atmosphere that's also a draw!

    Once a month, week, whatever!
