Happy The Holidays are over???

I have heard several folks in the last couple days so they are glad that Christmas is over. Kind of a "whew" we made it type attitude!?

I am not judging anyone because there have been times that thought has crossed my mind but jeez we are doing it wrong if that is the prevailing attitude. Shouldn't we be sad that its over, shouldn't we be already counting the days till next Christmas. Shouldn't this be a time of year we are able to put all the stuff about our family that could irk us aside and just see the good in them?

Why do we let ourselves get to the point of it all being a hassle??

I am done ever have any negative thoughts about the possible hustle and bustle of the Holidays... I think I have complete control over my attitude and a guy in my position should just be happy during the Christmas season. No excuses!

I have lost a pound and a half.

  1. Okay Okay...I totally get your point and I too feel like there are times when the true meaning of Christmas has been lost! It shouldn't be this way, I agree 100%...and we should all feel the wonderful Christmas spirit that surrounds us this time of year! BUT...........all I have to say is....

...you don't have my mother-n-law! (aaaahhhhhh!) LOL!

  2. I agree with you as well Cody. I absolutely love this time of year and time spent family. I often wonder why we have to have holiday's to have that family time. That is one of the reasons we moved our family back to Hutch...to be closer to family and be able to spend more time with them (that and it's a heck of a lot cheaper to live in Hutch compared to where I had been living). While I miss the heck out of Manhattan and the great friends I have there I am loving being able to see my parents and sisters family when ever I want.

My favorite two moments this year was watching all the Christmas shows that I watched as a child with my kiddos. The other was watching my youngest (2 y/o)getting into it this year. It was an absolute blast and I was as proud as a peacock watching her delivering the presents to each family member instead of just ripping into every thing that she saw.

    What were your favorite moments?

Even with all that I love about this time of year the one thing that I can not stand about the holidays is that Christmas stuff starts going up in stores during Halloween or shortly after. That drives me completley bat sh*t. Perhaps the over and oft early adverstising pounds the Christmas out of some people.

I hope you had a great Christmas and that this New Year brings more happiness and time with family.

  3. I generally agree with Aaron on this, but come out diametrically opposite. I love seeing my family, but the holidays are so rushed, busy, stressful and crowded (throw in likely bad travel weather). I much prefer visiting on just some random weekend, where there is no pressure and it is more laid back--kind of what Aaron describes as what he likes about moving back and being close to his family all the time.

I kind of hate the holidays (sorry, its true) but that doesn't mean I don't love hanging out with the family.

  4. Just a little input here from the outside - from what I can see here - Aaron and Cody who both love the holidays - live here in town - have family right here in town - probably don't travel (I know Cody doesn't normally) - Dave (I'm pretty sure this is Dave Ricksecker) comes from back east - I watch people pack up and come to visit and then decide where they should be and who all they should visit and when and how long they should stay with whom..????? Hoping all along the weather stays nice so they can get back on a plane to get back home with all the huge lines of travelers. My brothers always "came home" for Christmas and I was always "here" and I always felt bad for them. I totally agree with Dave - holidays for those people can really be difficult and stressful. I can see why a less "eventful" weekend would be more relaxing. I love the holidays but ALL my family is here or they come to see me!
