Is Obama Doomed to Fail?

Quick thought that is in my head:

Is Obama getting completely set up for a perceived failure by all these expectations?

I really and truly have made a decision to back Obama unless he makes it so I can't. I said that here and I meant it.

This is not a thought to knock Obama, it's a thought to promote conversation on whether or not the borderline hysteria around the Promise of Change and all the expectations people are putting on him are good or bad. Ok I think they are good and bad in some respects but are they gonna make it impossible for this guy to be considered successful?

I don't quite know what I am trying to say, I just think we as a country are in some dire times and it is gonna take patience to fix and I think a hole lotta people think it will all be gone on the morning of the 22nd!!

Anyhow thats what was just bouncing around in my head right now.

What do you think?

Extreme Cody update, I am down 7 lbs. Had a major step backwards as my wife and son took me to eat at my favorite place Sat night and I had a complete loss of control, but good day yesterday and a good workout last night and I am back on schedule. 1. I hope no one is naïve enough to think anything major is going to change quickly.

  2. Nora,

Do you not get the feeling that much of this country is being that naive?? If it is just me seeing this I will admit it.

  3. I think Obama himself created the expectations that you are questioning here. There are probably some people who think things will be great on Jan 22. There are probably also some people who think Obama is going to let the terrorists overrun the gates on Jan 22. There are plenty of rational people who know it's going to take time no matter who is in there. Obama made people think he could fix it. If he doesn't, he'll have to deal with those consequences, but I have a very hard time believing things won't be better in 4 years than they are now. And I think it will be very hard for him to be considered a failure when it's all over.

  4. I spose I should be updating also, not moving quite as fast as you. I've lost about 4 pounds. Been working out everyday and really cutting back on meal portions; I'm hoping it catches up pretty soon or I'm going to be in trouble.

  5. I truly hope that Obama doesn't fail. If he fails then we all fail. I didn't vote for the man, and I disagreed with most of what he said on the campaign trail, but I hope that the reality of the situation sets in soon and makes intelligent and forward steps to fix the USA.

  6. I see a lot of polarized views on Obama, Cody, and I'm sure a lot of the black/white perceptions are a sign of the unstable times we're in. He's a great focal point for all kinds of hysteria, worship and abject nay-saying.

Update for YOU: I think I found the six pounds you lost.
