Let get a little Capitalism involved in the rescue.

Why not save the parks with Casino developer money??
I was in the Kwik Shop at 12:30 in the morning cause my wife and I were working late and she wanted candy. I do what I am told.

I noticed this copy of the Wichita Eagle and what jumped in to my mind was "Wow, the parks lose a million and at the same time 3 groups of people are vying to spend millions to build casinos to make hundreds of millions"

Why not give the Casino bid to the first group that donates a million to the parks. Don't raise taxes, don't hit everyone when lots are having to tighten their belts, hit the guys who are looking to spend money to make money.

See if the really want to build a Casino in south central Kansas.

I don't know if this particular instance is really a good idea... I am not seriously advocating this plan of mine (I am definitely not against it tho) but... I know this, the same amount of dollars that were floating around before the recession, are still out there. Just not in Governments hands cause this recession crap has everyone holding onto their cash. I think a little capitalism and creativity could save some programs that really look like they are going away.

thoughts??

btw: My beautiful wife finally launched a blog after 3 years of me telling her she would enjoy it. its here.

  1. Well that's a good idea but, my question would be: Why is the city cutting so much money from the parks?
Also, how much money are they spending on parks?

  2. Good Questions to ask Chris...

I think they are cutting money because the recession has made folks spend way less so tax revenue is way down.

As far as how much they spend... thats public record..look it up.

You think they shouldn't be spending that much on parks?

  3. Ha! I immediately thought the same thing before reading your post. I was like, "Wait, $1 million being cut from parks but casinos being built? What?"
