I love taking pictures... but know how crappy I am...

I took this pic a few nights ago with my BlackBerry sitting in my jeep in the middle of the dirt road in front of our house.

The coolness of the pic has nothing to with skill or good equipment or setting up lighting... really its not that great of a pic, but I did catch a pretty cool moment in history... I'll never forget it ... mainly because my 11 year old son was with me and the conversation went like this:

Me: "Isn't that sunset sweet?"

Son: "Yeah, it looks like the devil twisted it all up"

I just stared at him for a sec... I don't know why, but that statement really stuck in my head as a perfect assessment of what the sky looked like at the time. It made me wish I could paint, I wanted to paint a sunset and name it "Twisted by the Devil" or something along those lines.

As far as art is concerned I have really come to grips with the fact that right now in my life, I don't want to prioritize the time to create much... I take phone pics, but don't know how to take good pics, I absolutely love music, but don't know how to play the guitar, I really love viewing, owning art, but can't draw a recognizable circle. Thing is... I'm ok with it for now, my priority is raising kids and being a husband and paying bills... but in the future I have plans to learn to create...

and be a storm chaser.

  1. I know the feeling. With life going on, it seems there is never enough time to create. I still try to take time every once in a while though. I don't want to reach the end of my life with only the intention of creating, never having actually accomplishing it. Even your phone pics are a step in the right direction.
