"I am right and you are wrong" (cont) (again)

I write quite a bit about a concept I titled "I am right and you are wrong" (all the posts I ever tagged with that are here)

I honestly think it sums up the single biggest problem we have in society today, I also think it maybe the single easiest problem to fix.

Here's what it boils down to...

I have a BlackBerry, you have an iphone so both of us think the other is wrong.

I am a man that likes women, you are a man that likes men, I am right, you are wrong.

I think the Federal Government should have a smaller role in making decisions at the state and local level, you don't, I am right and you are wrong.

These mindsets, these philosophies are what drive the vast majority of the worlds decision makers.

The problem is this... we are getting very few decisions actually made that are based on what is the best scenario to make things better.

I agree with the Republicans that we have to cut spending.. a lot.. I disagree that we should make it a political statement about abortion and the environment. The funding cuts could have come from other places as a compromise.

I agree with the left that we need social services and Arts and Humanities programs to continue to be a progressive and modern society. I disagree that it all has to come from Washington/Topeka and so much of it has to come from tax revenue.

I am rambling and I realize it... I just think if we had leaders from both sides that would sit down at an table and say here's the goal... its imperative the goal is not to prove I am right and you are wrong.. its to do whats right. Then both sides give in until a solution for the good of all is realized and its a win.

We may before too far polarized in political partisanship to ever see it happen...but I hope not.
