An honest question looking for an honest answer...

We've all heard these words before...

But do you live by them?

Seriously... are you fixing the problems and obstacles in your community, state, country... or are you just bitching that someone in your city/state/federal Government isn't fixing them the way you think they should be fixed?

Honest question... do you have an honest answer?

  1. I work part time at our local EMS for just above minimum wage. Part of my job is trying to make sure our patients get the best quality of care we can provide with the limited resources we have. I also work some hours off the clock to make sure things get done that have to be done.

  2. I volunteer and organize an outreach at my church to feed people who are homeless and/or low income. We feed nearly 200 people a month. When I took over this ministry three years ago, we fed about 40 people a month.

I'm also getting involved in the ICT S.O.S. group to stop child sex trafficking in Wichita. We meet tomorrow night for our first volunteer meeting.

I also volunteer as a troop leader for my daughter's Girl Scout troop. I've done this for two years and love getting to know these kids and teaching them how to be strong, courageous and compassionate people.

So yea, I think it's important to get involved and I really try to walk the talk.

  4. i dont volunteer for anything, i offer sound advice, and ran for city and county seats to reduce taxes as i see it the same as you, but if you cant lower taxes and elimate positons to encourage volunteers, were all wasting our time. the cold hard fact is we as citizens will pay for it no matter how it gets funded. a book one should read is MODERN MONEY MEECHANICS, its free on line in pdf or printable.

  5. Volunteering and donating are great as well as local driven crusades. I try to do all I can.

I think we as a society have become apathetic. I was talking on the phone earlier tonight trying to help someone find a doctor and they were all the sudden for socialized medicine. I was shocked and replied "You don't really want that in this country trust me." This is a person who has given up on our country and what is going on. It is not a person who doesn't work or care. It is someone who is exhausted and stressed to the max.

  6. Good comment anon... I agree to an extent about the apathy... but we can still fix more problems from our end than we can ever hope the government will.
