"How the Internet is like a Small Town"
...Twitter is coffee shop of the world... the whole world can now know about the good or bad thing you did just like it's always happened at the small town coffee shop.
I think Google (+) Plus will hurt Facebook...
I have been a Gmail user for several years and it kick ass... maybe best free product ever.. or maybe Google Analytics is ... wait Google Docs probably is... I don't know.
I like Google... I don't think they are perfect, I don't think they don't wanna make money, I don't have a shrine... but they make good products, they get them to me free or really cheap and the always allow me the options and give me the warnings I want about my security and privacy.
Ok nuff said about that...
Google kinda pulled the wraps of it's competitor to Facebook today or yesterday ... whenever. They've been talking about it for a long time... Today I got the first look I have had at a tour of it... That's here It looks cool ... not just copying Facebook but giving us some options.
I don't really wanna get into the mechanics of how it works... I haven't had hands on it yet and most likely neither have you... yet...
Here's the points that are exciting to me (exciting cause a little competition in this field will give us as the end user a better product)
1. Android devices: Google pushes a killer mobile version or app for Google Plus to the legions of Android phone folks out there... Facebook is gonna start to sweat.
2. Google to me has always been more worried about the regular joe's privacy than Facebook... Google defaults most stuff to not sharing it... Facebook defaults most stuff to let the world see it.
3. Google is incredible about not letting making $$$ get in the way of making a cool product... this may change here cause Facebook is putting a dent in their web domination... but the track record of Google is very cool in the sense they have given us some cool stuff and never worried much about monetization... at least publicly.
Anyhow... I don't really know what will happen... I am excited about competition in this space.. I think Facebook is getting big enough to worry about I don't want Goevernment involvment in that.. competition would solve it.
Sorry so rambly... all this stuff was just in my head.
