Nobody wants to help????

I spend a fair amount of time helping organizations find solutions...

In the process I run into a lot of non-profits that use the phrase "People just aren't as willing to help as they used to be" or some variation of it.

If you read this blog much... you know (I hope) that most times I try to see both sides of an issue.. at least I hope I do.

But on this one... they're wrong.

100% of the time... the orgs saying this are sitting in an office... waiting for the volunteers/donors to kick their door down, they are also the same orgs that check the mailbox everyday for a check from the Capitol. They are also the same orgs that are blaming the recession for not making their goals and accomplishing their mission.

psstt... There's a ton of orgs that aren't like this and are kicking ass in 2011.

You have to get off your butt and hustle and go to the people where they are at... i.e they aren't all still listening to local talk radio... they have other means of getting informed, getting inspired to help.

My kids generation still loves helping people... all generations of Americans are packed with good-folks who want to do whats right... they just aren't all packed around a radio the size of a refrigerator listening to Orson Wells anymore.

The solution is you...

  1. Agreed - you do need to reach out in all areas. But don't make light of the people sitting around and listening to the radio. Many seniors, with money, listen to that radio. So it's a good place to start - but for that age range, you still need to visit with them in person.

Gary Vaynerchuk says it well "Hustle!"

  2. I'm not making light of the Radio Deb... in fact local radio is till a very viable form of communication... that's why I was careful to say "they aren't ALL" still listening to Radio...

I still think a billboard has a place now and then... I don't disparage any form of communication honestly... but you can't rely on just one anymore...

  4. The Dallas Cowboys once again find themselves in Nike Roshe Run a prickly Nike Free Run position when it comes to their superstar NFL Jerseys wide receiver Dez Bryant and a lower body injury. According to coach wholesale nfl jerseys Jason Garrett, an MRI revealed Bryant cheap nfl jerseys has a slight hairline fracture in his injured right knee. Bryant Nike Air Max 90 went down awkwardly in the first quarter Sunday night against the Chicago Bears, but came back to finish the game. He caught his first touchdown nfl jerseys store pass of the season on a footwork-heavy Nike Air Max 2015 Shoes double-move that seemed to show his knee was in perfect condition.
